First, let me say I had no idea that there was a huge Mormon Temple in Ft Collins. Its beautiful. I'm not mormon but interesting to know its there.
Anyways, apparently its a temple, not a church.... which led to What is the difference? Apparently big difference.
Basically churches are everyday places of worship. Churches are open to visitors and Sunday services are held. Temples are not open to the public. Temples are used for religious ceremonies. They are not used for Sunday services and usually closed on Sabbath.
Most the stuff I read was referring to Mormon temples so not sure if this is across the board definitions. If so, then the "temples" I have visited are actually churches.
Other questions this random thing I learned today led to - Is there that big of a Mormon following in Colorado? Is this just the mormon definition? Why is this in Ft Collins? Anyways all questions I really don't need answers to, just interesting.
